Greetings! The holidays are in full swing (Christmas is just five days away?!) and while we’ve been excited to share the beautiful weddings and events we’ve proudly led, we want to share in the spirit of giving. Keep reading to see how you can make a difference beyond your backyard.
At this time in years past, we would have celebrated our holiday work party–a dressed-up evening to share a meal with our interns, assistants, and their plus ones. We would have also sent our holiday mailer to our “friendors,” (friends who are also fellow vendors) family, and former clients. In lieu of the two, we’ve made a donation to UN Women. If you’ve followed us for a while, you know we find it important to donate regularly to worldwide organizations and charities that are committed to causes such as providing access to to safe water and sanitation, or caring for trees and depleted landscapes. UN Women is dedicated to gender equality and the empowerment of women, focusing on providing education and ending violence, to name a few. If this is a cause that speaks to you as much as it speaks to us, you can make a difference too! A donation of $30 can can help two women in developing countries to read and write; a donation of $100 can train women’s rights activists to influence men to be advocates for violence prevention. Now here’s a unique gift idea–a gift box that also gives back. Haute Hope is a company based in LA that curates and ships gift boxes. What makes them special is that the products they choose to include in their boxes have a cause tied to them or positively impact the world. And they’re beautiful! For example, “The Gratitude” gift box includes a notebook of which portions of proceeds go to funding art programs in inner city schools. So cool, right?
