Ciao! Welcome to part one of two on Nicole and Daniel’s destination wedding in Tuscany. This was an extra-special one because Nicole has been a friend of ours for many years. AND she happens to be a talented photographer who has been a part of our vendor team multiple times. Reflecting back on this trip from two Fall seasons ago sure brings back some fond memories. Some words we’d use to describe it are rustic, yet modern, unfussy, and soooo romantic. Even though quite some time has passed, Italy just doesn’t go out of style! We thought you’d enjoy an inside look at the trip details.
Location: Villa Petrolo
Villa Petrolo is a wine estate where the wedding ceremony was to be held; the couple had also invited friends and family to stay here and in surrounding farmhouses on the duration of the trip. Petrolo stretches over 272 hectares, of which 31 are for its 13 vineyards. The manor itself was built between 1700 and 1750, and includes 16 bedrooms and 14 bathrooms. The property also boasts a swimming pool and tennis court.

The festivities kicked off when guests were starting to arrive. They were welcomed with an aperol spritz, a wine-based cocktail commonly served as an aperitif in Northeast Italy. Nicole and Daniel hosted a casual meal of pizza and prosecco as friends and family were getting acclimated.

Everyone onto a shuttle to explore Pienza, a small town in Southern Tuscany surrounded by cypress trees and rolling hills. Not only will you find stunning Renaissance architecture here, but high-quality pecorino cheese! Later, onto another shuttle to Castello di Meleto for rehearsal dinner. Castello means castle, and what a beautiful one it was. The walls were painted with a technique called fresco. This is somewhat of a watercolor technique on moist plaster. On the menu was, of course, pasta and wine. The night was truly memorable as friends made heartfelt, funny toasts to the couple.
