Today I am scrambling in my office to get emails and admin stuff done so I can shut the computer down and get the house ready for tomorrow’s dinner. Bronze glitter will be everywhere and the living room has to be rearranged in order to make room for the table that will seat 12 of us. A table with gorgeous linens and glittered leaf napkin rings, mind you! I’m in a fancy mood this year to host a grown up dinner party.
Thanksgiving is such a beautiful day to me. It’s not about presents and who in the neighborhood has the most blow up snowmen on the lawn. There aren’t even songs or many movies about the magic of Thanksgiving, yet I find it one of the most simply magic holidays of the year. It is about surrounding yourself with the people you love, eating this deliciously traditional meal, and being thankful for the year that we have just had and the new year that is soon to be.
It has been an incredible year for me personally. In fact, so many of the things that have happened this year have turned me into a bit more private of a person. I find that I’m not not so quick to tweet, facebook, blog, or instagram my life. I’m trying to be more present in the moment, more thankful for my many blessings, and more appreciative of each day that I get to live this beautiful, beautiful life.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!
