Jennifer was interning for the first time with Amber Events. She came through us after assisting a wedding photographer, and through mutual connections, found her way to her potential passion: event planning. Here Jennifer so gracefully tackled a 300+ guest wedding and very large property. It was a gorgeous wedding and Jenn is here to tell you more about it. {nira}

How did you learn about Interning or Assisting for Amber Events?

Nicky Kahn, she is a wedding photographer and I did my internship with her.

Tell us about yourself and how it relates to the wedding industry.

I am a very social person and I love to plan or organize events with my friends or family. I am detailed oriented and have always had a passion for weddings. My family used to own a wedding business that sold supplies like garters and ring pillows, so I have grown up with it around me. It is hard to believe that I love weddings since I will probably be the last person out of my friends to actually get married. But you know what they say..those who can’t wed, plan!

What tasks did you complete for this wedding?

A lot of set up, such as laying the linens on the tables, setting up the candles, putting the place settings on the tables, and hauling things up and down the hill. Then afterwards we did a lot of cleaning up. The more exciting things were answering questions from either guests or other vendors, and making sure things were going smoothly.

What surprised you?

How intense and frustrating it can be to have a bunch of different vendors working together.

What is your favorite part of this wedding?

I really enjoyed watching the video from the wedding. The couple had so much love for each other and it was a beautiful thing to watch.

What shoes did you wear?

O’Neil brand looking Toms

What is your favorite wedding scene from a movie?

Bridesmaids when they sing Hold On at the end

Do you have any words for anyone wanting to join the wedding industry?

Don’t do it! Just kidding I think being able to be a part of a couple’s special day is all worth it. No matter the stress that leads up to it, it’s easy to forget once you see your work in action.

Final Comments:

I think this was a great experience. I luckily have not changed my mind about wanting to be a wedding planner after working the wedding. It’s hard work and you will never appreciate your bed more than after standing up all day at a wedding but I loved it all! I hope to do this a lot more in my future
